Lewis (1918-1984) was a publicist with United Artists from 1952-1961 before becoming an independent motion picture producer. Among the pictures that he produced was "The Pawnbroker," which was released in 1965. The movie deals with a Polish immigrant who has survived the Nazi concentration camps and works in a pawnshop in Harlem, New York. From the description of Papers, 1961-1965.
